Tunneling
Tunneling
Tunnels constructed in soft soil and cracked rock use the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) in Israel and worldwide. It is the ideal method for working in an urban environment. Unlike the Cut and Cover method, the NATM method does not cause significant environmental disturbance by being underground.
We specialize in performing all tunneling work using the NATM method, including drilling and installing steel umbrellas (forepoling), hanging mesh, installing lattice girders, shotcrete, installing grouted and mechanical rock bolts, Swellex, Self Drilling and more. We are up to date with all the latest developments and innovations in the field.
Lipsker & Co. has conducted a long list of preliminary support and tunnel works in Israel in various soil and rock sections, including sand, clay, limestone, marl and dolomite for various uses, such as roads, railways, service tunnels, pumped storage, etc.
Among the projects in which we took part:
· "Elite" Tunnel in Ramat Gan
· " Shapirim" tunnel" near Ben Gurion Airport
· "Eshkol" Tunnel in Jerusalem
· Annaba Tunnel in Modi’in
· A tunnel for the Ministry of Defense in the South
· Hadassah Tunnel in Jerusalem
· The low-pressure tunnel in Gilboa
· A tunnel in the Generi Building in Jerusalem
· Azrieli Tower Tunnel and more
NATM (the New Austrian Tunneling Method) is used to tunnel through soft soil and fractured rock all over the world and of course in Israel as well. It is the ideal method for tunneling in an urban environment and in contrast with the “Cut and Cover” method; because all the work is underground, NATM causes no significant disturbance to the environment.
Lipsker& Co. specializes in all types of NATM tunneling work, which includes drilling and the installation of steel umbrellas, steel meshes, lattice girders, shotcreting, the installation of grouted and mechanical bolts , soil anchors , Swellex, self-drilling and more… Lipsker&Co.is fully up to date with all the latest developments and advances in this field.
The Lipsker&Co Company has executed a long list of forepoling and tunneling projects in Israel, based on an endless variety of soil and rock types, including: Sand, clay, chalk, marl and dolomite for a wide range of purposes – Roads, rail lines, service tunnels, pumped water storage facilities, etc.
Just some of the projects in which Lipsker&Co. has played a vital role: The “Elite” tunnel in Ramat Gan; the “Shappirim” tunnel near Ben Gurion Airport; the “Eshcol” tunnel in Jerusalem; the “Anava” tunnel at Modi’in; a tunnel for the Ministry of Defense in Israel’s southern region; the “Hadassah” tunnel in Jerusalem.
In addition, Lipsker’s TLG subsidiary has executed the low pressure tunnel at the Gilboa pumped storage project; tunneling works at the Generic Building in Jerusalem and more…
